Pediatric & NICU Surgery
Highest-volume department at RRSH. Neonatal emergencies, TOF repairs, VP shunts at public scale in Vidarbha.
The Pediatric Surgery department has been operational since 2008 and performs the highest surgery volume at RRSH — 5,182 surgeries in 2025-26, including complex neonatal and NICU procedures.
The department handles TOF (Tracheo-Oesophageal Fistula) repairs, VP shunts, Hirschsprung disease, and neonatal emergencies that require immediate intervention and are unavailable in district hospitals.
In 2025, the team performed a Fetus-in-Fetu surgery — an exceptionally rare developmental anomaly with fewer than 200 documented cases worldwide — in a public-sector setting.
