An ECG (electrocardiogram) records the electrical signals produced by the heart with each beat, producing a trace that shows heart rhythm, rate, and conduction patterns. RRSH performed 16,538 ECGs in 2025–26. ECGs are available in the Cardiology OPD and Emergency department, and are a routine part of pre-operative assessment for surgery patients.
Patients with chest pain, palpitations, breathlessness, fainting, or high blood pressure. Also required as a pre-operative investigation before surgery.
Small sticky electrodes are attached to your chest, arms, and legs. You lie still for about 30 seconds while the machine records your heart activity. The test is completely painless and takes under 5 minutes total.
This service is available at no cost to all eligible patients under the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya Yojana (MJPJAY) and Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY). Patients from all five Amravati division districts are eligible.
