The RRSH pathology laboratory provides comprehensive diagnostic testing including haematology (complete blood count), biochemistry (kidney function, liver function, blood sugar, lipids), microbiology, urine analysis, and histopathology for surgical biopsies. A total of 6,97,830 tests were performed in 2025–26. The laboratory operates on working days with same-day results for most routine tests.
All inpatients and OPD patients requiring blood investigations, urine tests, or tissue analysis. Tests are ordered by the treating doctor.
A blood sample is drawn from a vein in your arm by a trained phlebotomist. For urine tests, a sample container is provided. Results are typically ready in 2–4 hours for routine tests, and 24–48 hours for cultures or histopathology.
For fasting blood tests (blood sugar, lipid profile, kidney function): fast for 8–12 hours — water is permitted. Collect urine tests first thing in the morning (mid-stream sample).
This service is available at no cost to all eligible patients under the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya Yojana (MJPJAY) and Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY). Patients from all five Amravati division districts are eligible.
