MRI

Magnetic resonance imaging — detailed soft-tissue and neurological imaging via outsourced MOU.

Free under MJPJAY & PMJAY
About this service

MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) produces highly detailed images of soft tissues, brain, spine, joints, and internal organs using magnetic fields rather than radiation. At RRSH, MRI services are currently provided through a formal MOU arrangement with an external provider — patients are sent for the scan and results are collected at RRSH. The hospital's own MRI unit is in the development pipeline.

Who needs this service

Patients requiring detailed brain, spine, joint, or soft tissue imaging — particularly for neurological conditions, cancer staging, musculoskeletal problems, or where CT scan findings are inconclusive.

What to expect

You will lie inside a large cylindrical machine for 20–60 minutes depending on the area being scanned. The machine produces loud knocking sounds during the scan. You must remain still throughout. Earplugs are provided.

How to prepare
📋

Remove all metal objects including jewellery, hairpins, and hearing aids. Inform the team if you have any metal implants, pacemakers, or clips from previous surgery. Some MRIs require a contrast injection — bring kidney function reports in that case.
