X-ray (radiography) uses small doses of radiation to create images of bones and dense tissues. RRSH performed 16,772 X-rays in 2025–26. Chest X-rays are among the most common investigations for respiratory and cardiac conditions; orthopaedic X-rays assess fractures and joint conditions; abdominal X-rays evaluate intestinal obstruction and other conditions.
Patients referred for chest assessment, suspected fracture, joint evaluation, abdominal investigation, or pre-operative clearance.
A quick, painless procedure. You will stand or lie in front of the X-ray machine, and the radiographer will take images from one or more angles. The process takes about 5–10 minutes.
Remove metal jewellery, belts, and clothing with metal fastenings. If a chest X-ray: you may be asked to take a deep breath and hold it briefly.
This service is available at no cost to all eligible patients under the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya Yojana (MJPJAY) and Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY). Patients from all five Amravati division districts are eligible.
